

Born in Lynchburg, December 5, 1972, he was the son of David Allen Blankenship of Evington and Ruth P. Turner, also of Evington. He is also survived by his daughters, Taylor and Samantha Blankenship of Monroe, his sister, Jennifer Layne and her husband David of Evington; brother, Brian Blankenship and his wife Melissa of Roanoke; half-brothers, Mark Blankenship and his wife Emily of Rustburg and Ricky Blankenship of Evington; one half-sister, Brittany Blankenship of Evington Aunts and uncles, Marie and Okie Baisden, Gloria Tyree and Phyllis and Butch Wood; nephews, Johnathan Layne and wife Kristen and Daniel Layne; nieces, Christine and Sabrina Layne and many cousins.
Scott attended Hyland Heights Baptist Church and was baptized in Lake Michigan while attending a teen camp. He lettered in track at Altavisa High School, where he also played baseball and football. He later graduated from Brookville High School in 1991. Scott worked in construction and was a very talented artist and excellent cook. His other hobbies included fishing, music and sports.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 15, 2016 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Dwight Weaver, Jr. officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Scott’s honor to the American Cancer Society, the Langhorne Community Chapel building fund or to the Hyland Heights building fund.
