

Born in Durham, N.C., he was the son of the late Lt. Col. Arden Sheetz Freer and the late Beatrice Moffett Freer.
David was the founder of Arden Technologies and a senior software engineer at Andrew Corporation.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, April F. Likins and her husband, William, of Lynchburg and Lauren F. McAuliffe and her husband, Heath, of Boston, MA; one son, D. Justin Freer of Richmond; one sister, Kathleen Freer and her husband, David Novak, of Morehead City, N.C.; two grandchildren, Carmen E. Hudson and Luke P. McAuliffe, both of Boston, MA and his mother-in-law, Beatrice Watson Erdesky.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 110 Melinda Dr., Lynchburg by Harvey Scott. Interment will follow in the Freer Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family would prefer donations to the Centra Foundation in honor of David Arden Freer. Tax deductable donations can be sent to 1920 Atherholt Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24501. While we were blessed to have the resources for his care, there are many cancer patients in our area who cannot afford life saving treatments.
