
David Roland Taber, Jr., 85, formerly of Keystone Heights, Florida passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Fairmont Crossing Nursing Home in Amherst. He is survived by his wife, Mattie Rucks Taber.
Mr. Taber was born in Charlotte, NC , on March 13, 1925, to the late David R. and Helen (Sinclair) Taber, Sr.. He was the retired owner of Biscayne Air Conditioning Co. and had proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Taber moved to Keystone Heights in 1981 from Miami where he was in the Gideons International F & A.M. for 52 years. He was also a longtime member of the Freedom Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mattie Rucks Taber; two sons, David R. Taber, III and his wife Winnie of Lynchburg, VA; Donald James Taber and his wife Lou Anne of Wilson, NC; one daughter, Kathleen Suzanne Cowart and her husband Jack of Douglas, GA; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Freedom Baptist Church, 7207 N. State Rd. 21 Keystone Heights, Florida. Interment will follow in the Keystone Heights Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2010 at Freedom Baptist Church, 7207 N. State Rd. 21 Keystone Heights, Florida.
The family request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Freedom Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1517, Keystone Heights, Florida 32656.
