Dolly Childress Owen

Dolly Childress Owen, 69 of Lynchburg, wife of Tommy D. Owen, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at her home. She was born in Lynchburg on December 7, 1951, daughter of the late James E. Childress and Bessie C. Childress. In addition to her parents, a son, John Lewis Painter, III, preceded her in death as well as a brother, Mark Childress and a sister, Juanita Goldstein. Dolly was a member of Jubilee Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir and sewing. In addition to her husband Tommy, she is survived by a daughter, Joanie P. Rankins (Harry); 4 brothers, Jim Childress (Charlotte), Wayne Childress (Margo), Roger Childress (Mary), and Ken Childress (Peggy); a sister, Diana Massie and 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. There will be a celebration of life at 6:00 pm on Thursday, June 22, 2021 at Jubilee Baptist Church.
