Edith Marie Daniel

Edith Marie Daniel, 84, of Lynchburg, passed away, Sunday, October 26, 2014, at Heritage Green. She was the wife of John (Bill) Willie Daniel, Jr. Born June 1, 1930, in Ronceverte, WV, she was the daughter of the late Walter Charlie Martin and the late Janet Lea Morgan Martin.

Edith was a retired registered nurse for Lynchburg General Hospital. She moved to Covington at the age of sixteen and graduated from Covington High School. Edith then came to Lynchburg to receive her training in nursing. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by one son, Martin Lewis Daniel and seven siblings, Billy Joe Martin, Vera Martin Showalter, Mary Sue Crawford, Jerry Lee Martin, Johnny Martin, Freddie Russell Martin and Samuel Martin.

In addition to her husband, Edith is survived by three children, John William Daniel of Lynchburg, Joey A. Daniel and his wife Kitty of Lynchburg and Angela Lee Daniel of Charlottesville; three siblings, Edwin Wesley Martin and his wife Patricia of Salem, Norman Martin and his wife Wanda of Covington and Rita Gail Martin of Pigeon Forge, TN; two grandsons, Michael Joseph Daniel and W Bruce Steever, II; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted, 1:00 pm., Thursday, October 30, 2014, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Celebrant Polly Starnes officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends, 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
