Edward Newman Sr.

Born December 16, 1929 in Moneta, Virginia, he was a son of the late Meredith “Fan” Nathaniel and Mabel Lynch Newman.

He retired as a self-employed mechanic, was co-owner of Old Garage Antiques and was a member of Pisgah Presbyterian Church. He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Gail Newman.

In addition to his wife he is survived by son, Edward Newman, Jr. and wife, Nona of Georgia, daughters, Dolores Landrum and husband, Tom of Fla., Pam Goulding and husband, Bob of N.C., son, Mark Newman and wife, Jewel of Elon; sisters, Reba Turner of Lynchburg, Hazel Oberchain of Manassas, Rosie Klopis and husband, Ted of King George, Ruth Ann Greene of Lynchburg; brother, Aubrey Newman also of Lynchburg; sister-in-law, Mamie Newman of Bedford; grandchildren, Traci Megginson, Edward Ray Newman, Tracy Kim, Alana Wicker, Jennifer Beck, Kerri Mills, Kim Gordin, Crystal Hite, Michael Newman; and 18 great- grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in Whitten Timberlake Chapel by the Dr. William Honeywell and Rev. Barry Tucker. Interment will follow in Pisgah Presbyterian Church on 460 in Goode.

The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. today at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
