Egbert Alvin Garbee Jr.

Born in Campbell County, January 24, 1948, he was the son of the late Egbert Garbee, Sr. and Lucy Johnson Garbee. Alvin started his own business, E. A. Garbee Excavating and Grading. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 1727 where he had served on the dance committee and treasurer.

He leaves behind to honor his memory his son, Chris Garbee and his wife Tammy of Rustburg; two step-sons, Dennis Wade Osborne and wife Carol of Tampa, FL and Timothy Wayne Osborne of Lynchburg; four sisters, Evelyn Mann and husband Jimmy, Estelle Hall, Shirley Massie and husband E.W. and Frances Stewart all of Rustburg; three grandchildren Jacalynn Marie Barksdale and husband Trevor of Concord, Jesse Thomas Garbee and Jonathan Clark Garbee both of Rustburg and a special friend, Dianne Vaughn.

A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Chris Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in Altavista Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the funeral home.
