Born November 27, 1940 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late James Louis and Reba Dalton Myers and was also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Ray Phelps. Mrs. Phelps was retired from General Electric / Ericsson and was a member of Hyland Heights Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Phelps is survived by a daughter, Vickie Phelps Johnston; a sister, Emily M. Jacobs (G.W.) of Gretna; a brother, Gary L. Myers (Sabrina) of Dry Fork, VA; three grandchildren, Faye Marie Coleman (Ray Campbell), Chris Johnston (Mandy), and Brad Johnston and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Carl Weiser officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
