Gloria Jean Arthur Floyd

Gloria Jean Arthur Floyd, 69, of Appomattox and formerly of Lynchburg, passed away, Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born January 2, 1945, in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the late William Elias Arthur and the late Elvin Ashley Arthur.

Jean was a retired secretary for Griffin Pipe Company and a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by one brother, Ronnie Arthur.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Janet F. Markey (Robert) of Appomattox; one sister, Jeanette Stone (Ronald) of Lynchburg; one brother, David Arthur (Judy) of Forest; four grandchildren, Bobby Markey, Geoff Markey (Whitney), Kelly DiNardo (Joshua) and Heather Markey; one great-grandson, Austin William Markey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. David Heerspink officiating. Interment will follow at the Locke Family Cemetery in Lynchburg, VA.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence of Ronald and Jeanette Stone.
