

She was born in Bedford County on May 20, 1915, a daughter of the late Elijah David and Lottie Leftwich Scott. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley M. Jordan; a brother, Talmadge Scott and two sisters, Salene Margaret Scott Preas and Audry June Scott Bradner.
Survivors include two sons, P.H. Mitchell, Jr. and Charles Mitchell both of Lynchburg; one sister, Doris Baber; one brother-in-law, Oma Bradner; one sister-in-law, Hilda Jordan; four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Grace graduated from New London Academy in 1932. She was a star basketball player and elected Class Historian of her class. She retired from the Central Virginia Training Center in 1983 and went on to d
o volunteer work for Tomahawk Elementary School and The Carrington nursing home. She was a member of Lynchburg First Church of the Nazarene.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2012 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Jonathan Falwell officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the home of her son P.H. Mitchell.
