Born in Lynchburg, June 2, 1919, she was the only child of Thomas Allen Brooks and Sarah Elizabeth
Brooks. She was the widow of Charles Peyton "Sweet Pea" Spencer.
Surviving is her only child, Wayne Lee Fitzgerald (Carolyn), of Lynchburg; three grandchildren; Valerie Frye (Leonard)
of Madison Heights, Amy Thompson (Chris) of Richmond, Melissa Schuppe (Joseph) of Lynchburg; nine
great-grandchildren; Nicholas and Jessica Frye; Peyton, Emma and Olivia Thompson; Morgan, Madison,
Ezra and Nora Schuppe and one great-great-grandson, Adrien Schuppe.
She was a member of Eastbrook Baptist Church.
Helen was a long time employee of Craddock and Terry Shoe Company and retired from Lynchburg
Public School System's food service.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Spring Hill Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Avante of Lynchburg for their loving care during her stay there.
