Henry Byrd Enochs Sr.

Henry Byrd Enochs, Sr., 91, of Lynchburg passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at his residence. He was the husband to Betty Cooper-Enochs. Born December 18, 1926, in Campbell County, he was the son to the late Hugh Lee Enoch and the late Susie Monroe Enoch. Henry was a retired employee of Mead Corporation / Rock-Tenn, and a member of Leawood Baptist Church. He also attended Sandusky Baptist Church. Henry served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Henry was also a member of the 50 Plus Gospel Singers at Thomas Road Baptist Church, and a member of the United Commercial Travelers and the Mead / Rock-Tenn Breakfast Club. In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his first wife of 56 years, Doris Donald Enochs; one son, Larry Steven Enochs; one daughter, Pamela Doris Enochs; daughter-in-law, Mary Enochs; and he was the last of thirteen brothers and sisters. In addition to his wife, Henry is survived by two sons, Pastor Henry Byrd Enochs, Jr. (Jayne) of Appomattox County, William “Bill” Hugh Enochs (JoAn) of Madison Heights; daughter-in-law, Connie James Enochs of West Palm Beach, FL; three stepsons, Jerry Cooper (Judy) of Lynchburg, William Cooper (Karen) of Garner, NC and Joey Cooper (Deborah); a host of grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren, step great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 16, 2018, at the Fort Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Larry S. Enochs, II officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m., Sunday, April 15, 2018, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Leawood Baptist Church or to Autism Speaks. The family would like to express a special thank you to Centra Hospice for their loving care towards Mr. Enochs during his illness and to both Leawood Baptist Church and Sandusky Baptist Church families for their constant prayers and support.
