
Herbert Lawrence Manley, 82, of Lynchburg, died Sunday, January 23, 2011, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. Born November 3, 1928, in Bedford, he was the son of the late Elmer O. Manley and Mary Booth Manley.
Mr. Manley was a member of Eternal Baptist Church and a retired employee of Camelot Nursing Home. He also served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Manley is preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Cofflin and Ruth Phelps; two brothers, Donald Ray Manley and Clarence Edward Manley; and one grandson, Chris Manley.
Mr. Manley is survived by two sons, Eddie R. Manley and his wife Janet of Lynchburg and David A. Manley of Lynchburg; two sisters, Helen Moore of Lynchburg and Mattie Stowers and her husband James of Rustburg; one grandson, Jason Manley; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Elsie Steadman.
A graveside service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Fort Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum conducted by Rev. Sidney Wade.
