Iona Scott Brooks, 91, of Gladys, passed away, Thursday, June 26, 2014, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Carrel Lorance Brooks. Born November 23, 1922, in Gladys, she was the daughter of the late John Hudson Scott and the late Annie Bowen Scott.
Iona was a homemaker and a proud Avon lady, and she was a long time member of Chestnut Hill Baptist Church. Iona was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother.
Iona is survived by her children, Brenda B. Tomlinson of Lynchburg, Randall S. Brooks (Nancy) of Ashburn, and Robin B. Leonard (Ronnie) of Midlothian and; two sisters, Eva S. Lloyd of Lynchburg and Mary S. Rosser (Frank) of Gladys; four grandchildren, Crystal Brooke Tomlinson, Jason Brooks, Traci Brooks Medlock and Kelsey Elizabeth Leonard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted 3:30 p.m., Saturday, June 28, 2014, with Pastor Daryl Webster, of Winfall Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2014, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
