

Janet Elizabeth MacArthur Powers, 76, of Rustburg and formerly of Princeton, ME, went home to be with her Lord, Sunday, November 24, 2013, 4:40 p.m., at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born November 3, 1937, in Princeton, ME, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Lovina Cochran.
Janet was a retired customer service associate for WalMart, where she served for 14 years in the Ladies Dressing Area Department. She also served 30 years at Thomas Road Baptist Church and Liberty University. Janet had many likes and hobbies such as spending time with her family, flower gardening, cardinal birds, puzzles and yard sales.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by one sister, Azelia Ka’ke and one daughter-in-law, Vera MacArthur.
Janet is survived by her daughters, Deborah Thomas, Elaine Apt (Royce), Cynthia Fowler and Barbara Fielder (William); one son, Hugh MacArthur, Jr.; five special adopted sons and daughters, Jenny Reynolds, Debbie York, Johnny Bell, Chris Reynolds and Lauren Thomas; one brother-in-law, Ivars “Lefty” Ka’ke; seventeen grandchildren, Jason, Kristi, Lisa, Shane, Catrina, Steven, Crystal, Heather, Matthew, Charity, Hope, Faith, Bridget, Reva, Kayla, Zac and Zane; and ten great-grandchildren, Nathan, Katelyn, Kristin, Kyle, Dravin, Kinlynn, Kayden, Baby Reynolds, Xavier and Starla; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 29, 2013, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Rick Magee officiating. Interment will follow at Altavista Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 9-11 a.m., Friday, November 29, 2013.
