Joan Catherine Gallagher

Joan Catherine Gallagher, 76, of Lynchburg passed away Sunday, January 17, 2016, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Thomas Joseph Gallagher, Jr. Born June 21, 1939, in Steubenville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late James Francis Nolan and the late Jane Catherine McCartney Nolan.

Joan was a former secretary for Prince William County Schools and a member of the Roman Catholic faith.

In addition to her husband and parents, Joan was preceded in death by one brother, James Francis Nolan, Jr.

Joan is survived by three children, Thomas Gallagher, III and his wife Katleen Bartnek-Gallagher of Manassas, Kathy Sorrow and her husband Steve Sorrow of Catonsville, MD and Jim Gallagher and his wife Cindy Gallagher of Lynchburg; thirteen grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be no scheduled visitation hours but friends and family are welcome to visit at the funeral home.
