

Born on December 11, 1939 in Campbell County, he was the son of the late Irvin Clifton Hall and Mary Katherine Rice Hall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Louetta Hall and Mary Hall.
John was affectionately known as “The Mayor of Evington” because of his active involvement in the community and his ability to never meet a stranger. He was a founding member of both the Evington Fire Department and the Evington Ruritan Club where he maintained 55 years of perfect attendance. For numerous years, he was also the Chief Electoral Officer of the Evington voting precinct and a board member for the Campbell County Rescue Squad. He was a longtime member of Evington United Methodist Church. He owned and operated Hall’s Appliance for over 10 years and ultimately worked and retired from Central Virginia Training Center.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Bernice W. Hall; his children, Clifton Hall and his wife Amy and Tammy Taylor and her husband Jay; grandchildren, Alexandra Grae Tweedy, Kameron Elizabeth Tweedy, James Hall (Cheyenne) and Jodie Hall and one great-grandson, James R. Hall.
John's family would like to thank the staff at The Summit for the love, care and compassion shown to John during his time there.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel officiated by Pastor John Franklin. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 12:00 p.m.
