

John Steven Thulin, 60, of Lynchburg passed away after a courageous battle with cancer Saturday, February 4, 2017, at his residence. He was the husband of Esther McLean Thulin. Born August 22, 1956, in Salt Lake City, UT, he was the son of the late Byron Ralph Thulin and the late Laura LuJana Wilcox Thulin.
John was a retired safety inspector for the Central Virginia Training Center and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one son, Andrew Thulin; two brothers, Kenneth Thulin and Charles Thulin; and one grandson, Jason Thulin.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by six children, Byron Thulin (Ashley) of Lynchburg, Owen Thulin (Shayna) of Richmond, Mary Harris (Justin) of Huddleston, Benjamin Thulin of Lynchburg, James Thulin of Lynchburg and Lee Thulin of Lynchburg; three siblings, Gerald Thulin of West Valley, UT, David Thulin (Eveline) of Florida and Sherrie Lewis (Mark) of Cedar City, UT; two grandchildren, Kendall Thulin and Aidan Thulin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 11, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Michael Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park in Forest.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2017, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and one hour prior to the service, Saturday, February 11, 2017, at the church.
