Born on May 15, 1923 in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Betty Francis.
Josephine enjoyed gardening, traveling, cats and especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a brother, Richard Francis.
She is survived by her children, Larry Brooks of Dunn, NC and Dianne Brooks Bateman and husband Arthur of Stuart, FL; three grandchildren, Larry Brooks, Jr., Susan Brooks Campbell, and Eric Bateman; five great granddaughters, Ashley, Maddie, Breann, Lauren, and Allyson; a special friend, Patsy Leftwich of Lynchburg; her sister, Linda Tysinger; her brother, Dean Francis; and a host of other family members and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2 pm today, May 20, 2015 at Cumbie Cemetery in Rustburg, with Pastor Carlton Gunter officiating.
