

A native Virginian, Josephine was born March 5, 1933 in Lynchburg, a daughter of Daniel “Gus” Farrar and Bertha Almond Farrar. Known as “Jo” to family and friends, she was the loving wife of the late Warren Ray Thompson.
She is survived by her sons Kurt Thompson and his wife Anne of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Kris Thompson and his wife Ann of Laurel, Maryland, and grandchildren Lindsay, Logan and Henry Thompson; and Graham and Eliza Thompson. Also surviving are her two sisters, Mildred Farrar Windsor and Madeline Farrar Cash.
Mrs. Thompson graduated from Brookville High School in 1951. She was employed by Craddock Terry and Nationwide Insurance until the birth of her sons. After her boys were grown her love of children led her to open her home and do child care for almost 20 years. Josephine was a dedicated, loving and supportive mother, “Meme” and friend. She leaves a legacy of faith in God, trusting Him in all circumstances.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A celebration of Josephine’s life will be conducted at Memorial Christian Church at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 with the Rev. Virgil Knipp and the Rev. Sue Knipp officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
