Katherine "Kathy" Hinchee Purdy

She was born in Roanoke on January 31, 1957, daughter of Barbara R. Hinchee and the late Charles McReynolds. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her step father, Jerry Hinchee and 1 brother.

Kathy was a member of Timberlake Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, was a soloist in the choir and worked with children in Awana. She was a past missionary for Child Evangelism Fellowship and had been a teacher for several Christian Schools in the Lynchburg and Roanoke area. She was a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association, was an author who had written several children’s books and novels and enjoyed her ministry of song as well as sewing.

She is survived by her loving husband, John W. Purdy; her mother Barbara Hinchee, her sister-in-law, Noel Hinchee, an aunt, Sandra Baker and her husband Harry; 2 brothers, 2 sisters, and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 12:50 pm on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Timberlake Baptist Church where a Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm with Pastor Larry Brodie and Pastor Bryan Ferrell officiating. Burial will follow at Virginia Memorial Park.
