Born April 23, 1948 in Lynchburg, he was the son of Viola McBride Overstreet of Lynchburg and the late Winston Bethel Overstreet and was also preceded in death by a brother. Dexter Overstreet He was retired from Southern Air.
In addition to his wife and mother, Leon is survived by three daughters, Carol Overstreet of Gordonsville, Shannon Fisher and husband, Rodney of Lynchburg, and Kim McFaden and husband, Jay of Rustburg; one son, Kevin Dwayne Wieringo and wife, Sarah of Rustburg; one sister, Deloris Helms and husband, Terry of Lynchburg; a nephew, Gabriel Helms and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., today, December 1, 2011 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Dr. Wayne Greene officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service until 8:30 p.m.
