She was born in Roanoke on December 2, 1935, daughter of the late Stephen and Evelyn Steele. She was the wife of the late Bobby Thompson for 65 years. In addition to her husband, Bobby, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Nellie Grey Thompson and Nancy Steele.
Lois was a member of New Chapel Baptist Church and retired from the Campbell County Library after 30 years of service. She also worked on the Thompson Family Farm.
She is survived by her son, Robert Daniel Thompson and wife Linda of Rustburg; two grandchildren, Ryan Daniel Thompson and Sally Faith Thompson; one nephew, Pete Thompson; two nieces, Teresa T. Akers and husband Roger and Lisa T. Tribble and husband Edward.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at New Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Dooley officiating. Now rest in peace and to hear her Lord and Savior say Well Done My Good and Faithful servant.
The family would like to thank Sharon Bradley, a longtime family friend and care giver, Dr. Brenda Stokes, MD, Medical Director of Palliative Care and the nurses of Lynchburg General Hospital for the excellent care given to Lois. They met her needs up to the end for her transition over to the Glory Land where I’m sure Bobby was waiting with open arms.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or New Chapel Baptist Church.
