I did not know Margaret well, but my kids and hers went to Brookville HS together.  Based on what I do know of Margaret, all of the honors heaped on her at her funeral were well deserved.  Margaret was working for an in-home care organization when my in-laws started to need help, and she struck up a friendship with them.  Even after she was no longer working for the in-home care organization, she stayed in touch.  She was a huge help when they moved from their home into an assisted living facility, and after my father-in-law died, Margaret was essential in securing a spot for my mother-in-law in another facility.  She was a great friend to many, and she will be sorely missed.

This comes as a great shock to me. Margaret faithfully kept in touch with me over the years since our year at Word of Life Bible Institute. I was honored to sing in her wedding. 
Over the decades, Margaret shared her personal walk with our Savior, how proud she was of her children, and how deeply she loved and was loved by her husband. She shared how much she loved nursing and helping people, and also the realities of trials and struggles in the nursing system, but always with  a spiritual “eye” to what the Lord was doing in and through her. 
   For months, maybe a year or more, I thought, “I need to give Margaret a call.” I thought I’d wait till my surgeries and procedures were over and I was clear headed and doing better.  Today is that day.  
    Painful lesson to not put off connecting to those you care and love. But we will talk again, where there will be no pain, no hospitals, no sickness or sadness. What a joyous reunion that will be! 
   She is truly and deeply missed. Heartfelt condolences to her family, and prayers for comfort and peace. 

Margaret and I met in the 6th grade and instantly bonded.  This was to be one of those bonds that would never be broken.  Over the years as Margaret studied nursing she combined her faith with her ability to provide both physical healing as well as provide faith based healing.  She was one of strongest people I have known in my life.  After  high school graduation we went our separate ways,   There would be gaps of months or years in which we did not have contact with one another.  But the minute one of reached out it was like the years had never past and we were 6th grade best friends again.  I love Margaret with all my heart and I know for sure she has been reunited with her loved ones.   As hard as this loss is for us I know that Margaret was prepared spiritually for her journey.  I too have strong faith and I know  that we will be united once again.  God bless you  Margaret.

I will remember you Mother for all the help she gave my Mother and  I during her illness back in 2001 before she went home to be with the LORD. Margret was a caring lady and a wonderful  friend to me . Just last week my caregiver  Kathy talked with her . Margaret was a great encourager during my time in the choir at Hyland Heights.  I was hospitalized for an extended period for mental health and missing my family.  I received many cards and letters but Margaret BY FAR sent the most and they were personalized and handwritten!  Snippets of devotionals, poems, written prayers, and Bible verses.  I still read thru them now 15 years later.

Worked with Margaret for years in home health. What adventures we had! What a "tag team" we made she always said.  She was a great nurse who advocated for every patient. She was a blessing to everyone that she crossed paths with and I was blessed to call her "friend".

To all the Heffner and Stone families,  our sincerest and most deepest sympathy. Margaret was one of our most faithful friend and Sister in Christ. She has been an absolute blessing to LRBC in the last few years. She was our on duty nurse and always willing to help in anyway possible. She always went out of her way to be a blessing. She has left a Void in our hearts but we rejoice in her Graduation. Love in Christ, Butch and Phyllis Wood.

Margaret was a sweet friend for many years while she and I worked at Lynchburg General, So glad we had lunch together a couple of times and enjoyed sweet fellowship with her. 
She truly loved the Lord and the oneness we felt because of that was precious, she will be truly missed here on earth, but what a day of rejoicing it will be when we all meet in heaven one day, I know she is rejoicing with her and our Saviour- clothed in immortality,! Never to part again,

So sorry to hear of Margaret's passing.  She was one of the kindest, sweetest people I ever met.  She was also excellent at her work.  The light of Christ just shined through her in everything she did.  So sorry for the family!  What a legacy she left!



David, Kenneth, and Margaret’s children, we are very sorry for your family’s loss! Margaret was one of the sweetest ladies one could ever know. Her husband Rick, worked with me at RRD and his death shocked us all, now Margaret.
Margaret knew where she was going and we know that she is back with family again.
Sorry that we won’t be in town for the funeral services but know that you’re all in our thought & prayers.

Sorry to hear of Margaret's passing.  I Always enjoyed Margaret when we were at VBH together.  Good to see her at our reunion a few years ago.  She  was a happy, uplifting person to be with.

I had the privilege of working with Margaret for several years at Lynchburg General Hospital. If you look up the word “saint” in the dictionary, Margaret’s picture would be there. I have never known such a Godly, selfless, caring, loving, organized, giving, loyal, happy individual! She radiated with the love of her Savior and always had a positive word and “scripture for the day” in her pocket! She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. Praise God her faith has been made sight and she is resting in the arms of Jesus healthy and whole!! Save me a seat in the choir, girlfriend! I love you!

Margaret was one of the kindest most compassionate women I’ve ever known. I always asked her if I ever had to be hospitalized, would she be my private nurse as of course she agreed.  Her love of Jesus and her family are  to be admired.  She will be missed on this earth but I have no doubt I’ll see her again one day.  My sincere  sympathy to the family. 

My heart is broken for Margaret's family.  She was not only a godly woman, but an incredible human being.  Her kindness and thoughtfulness to others left an indelible imprint on all who had the privilege of knowing her.  Thank you for the way you so sweetly touched our lives, Margaret!  We will not say goodbye, but "until we meet again"!

I am so sorry to hear of Margaret’s passing, she and I were nursing school classmates and she was so helpful in planning our 45 class reunion with beckie hunt and I.  She was a great nurse and a very devout Christian.  My prayers go out for all her family.

One of the best memories that I have with your Mom was during the last Living Cross. We conspired every night to add small things to David Dalton’s birdcage including marshmallow peeps and then watching his reaction on stage. The best was the last night when she concocted Elmer’s glue sprinkled with black pepper to resemble droppings. We still laughed about that years later. I will miss her greatly. Wayne also sends his prayers and condolences.

I'm sorry to hear about Margaret's passing today. Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. I knew Margaret for many years from my friendship with her brothers David and Kenneth Stone. She was a Christian woman and she displayed her kindheartedness by inviting my brother and me for Thanksgivings last year. I pray that God will comfort her children and brothers in this difficult time.
