

Born in Charlottesville, Virginia on January 28, 1932, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Lawrence Greaver and Norma Allen Greaver, all of Charlottesville, Virginia. She was predeceased by her husband, Laurence Hamilton Gardner, II.
Marilyn is survived by her two beloved sons, Steven Hamilton Gardner of Charlottesville, and Mark Allen Gardner of Lynchburg, and grandsons Laurence Gibson Gardner (Meg) of Nashville, Tennessee and Harrison Lee Gardner of Raleigh, NC who were devoted to her and were her pride and joy. Marilyn also held a special place in her heart for her former daughter-in-law and caregiver, Kim Zimmerman Gardner-Ewell of Lynchburg, Virginia.
Her early aspirations led her to Averett University and Mary Washington College. As a talented pianist, and prior to her marriage, Marilyn once dreamed of attending the Juilliard School of Music, a testament to her dedication and love for the arts.
An avid bridge player, she found joy and connection in her bridge club. Her culinary skills were renowned among family and her Supper Club, particularly her lasagna, which became a favorite at gatherings.
Her life was full of unwavering love for her family and lifelong friendships scanning decades. Marilyn will be remembered for her grace, her vibrant spirit, and her incredible sense of humor.

A graveside service will be officiated by Reverend David W. Perkins at 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Monticello Memory Gardens, Charlottsville , Virginia and a reception to follow at the Blue Ridge Room at Farmington County Club.
