

Marshall McNair Thompson, 85, of Lynchburg, died, Thursday, March 22, 2012, at The Summit. He was the husband of 63 years to the late Kathleen Coleman Thompson. Born June 5, 1926, in, Concord, he was the son of the late George Levi Thompson and the late Alice Cheatham Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was a retired manager of quality control for the Lynchburg Foundry and a member of Fairview Christian Church. Mr. Thompson was also a loving husband, father and grandfather and his family was the most important thing to him.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by seven brothers, Raymond, Bill, Lawrence, Meree, Reese, Cheatham and Claude.
Mr. Thompson is survived by two daughters, Joan T. Moser and her husband David of Lynchburg and Judy T. Mc Darris also of Lynchburg; one son Michael R. Thompson and his wife Sandy of Norfolk; five grandchildren, Allison Moser, Jenna McDarris, Jesse McDarris, Amanda Thompson and Meredith Thompson; and many devoted nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 26, 2012, at New Concord Presbyterian Church Cemetery by Pastor Curtis Wheeler and the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton. The Virginia Army National Guard Military Honors will also participate at graveside.
The family will receive friends, 3-5 p.m., Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of The Summit Health and Rehabilitation department for their wonderful care provided to Mr. Thompson.
