Born on January 5, 1937 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Frank Marion Burford and the late Mattie Smith Burford. Nancy retired from GE and loved shopping and taking care of her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Trent and a brother, Clifton M. Burford.
Nancy is survived by her son, Thomas E. Smith, III; step-daughters, Dianne Smith, Kim Precious, and Angie Dewease; four grandchildren, Clay Smith, Austin Smith, Nikki Hamlett, and John Trent; five step-grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Linda Williams and Marie Smith.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 pm on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Fort Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
