She was born in Lynchburg on July 20, 1943, daughter of the late Walter Parker and the late Minnie Parker.
Norma was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She devoted her life to the care of her family, her patients, as well as every stray animal that ever showed up on her doorstep. She was a retired nurse. She liked to sew and go shopping. She loved the beach and was a big animal lover.
In addition to her husband Dudley, she is survived by 6 children, Linda Proffitt, Susan Lawhorn, Scott Lawhorn (Susan), Linda Castillo (Gerald), Bonnie Barber (Howard) and Mike Lawhorn (Sam); 7 grandchildren, Tony Barbato (Kristi), Nikki Barbato, Megan Matthews (Jeff), Marc Lawhorn (Lydia), Kyle Lawhorn, Amanda Lawhorn, and Jake Hogan. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren, Gabe Barbato, Kenzie Barbato, Chase Swafford, TJ Barbato, Parker Matthews, Kyler Lawhorn, and Madilyn Matthews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel where a Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday. Burial will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
