Born May 25, 1934 in Gladys, he was the son of the late Henry L. and Grace Rupert Hawkins and was also preceded in death by a step-daughter, Lois B. Hill; three brothers and five sisters. Mr. Hawkins was retired from H.K. Porter, a U.S. Navy veteran and was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three step-sons, Charles H. “Jimmy” Boothe and wife Brenda and Lawrence W. “Larry” Boothe and wife Linda, both of Rustburg and John D. Boothe of Lynchburg; one brother, Richard L. Hawkins of Altavista; and one sister, Alice Campbell of Gladys.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 pm on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor J.D. Surbaugh, Jr. officiating.
