

Born August 25, 1933 in Lanier County, GA, he was the son of the late Vernon S. and Nancy Boyd Exum and was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Scott Exum; three brothers, John S. Exum, James Exum, and Vernon Lamar Exum and three sisters, Willie Marie Peggy Franklin, Carolyn F. Lashley, and infant, Elizabeth Exum.
Perry was a retired U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, was retired from Lynchburg Sheltered Industries, and was also the owner & operator of Perry’s Appliance Repair. He was a member of Eastbrook Baptist Church, but was recently serving the Lord at Shekinah Glory Baptist Church. Perry loved music and loved serving the Lord through singing.
Perry is survived by his daughter, Wanda E. Rhyne and her husband Robert, Jr. of Lynchburg; a sister, Phyllis Moore of Georgia; two grandchildren, Hannah L. Rhyne and Robert L. Rhyne, III and one great-granddaughter, Layla Anthony.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Carlton Dunn, Sr. officiating. Interment with military honors by American Legion Post 36 will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Friday, April 1, 2016 at the funeral home and other times at his daughter’s residence.
