
Born on March 25, 1928 in Madison Heights, she was the daughter of the late Alma Proffitt Nash and Sally Woody Nash Story.
Rachel worked at the Zip Store where she retired as the Assistant Manager. She was a member of Jordan Baptist Church. She traveled with her husband for 20 years while he was in the Army. Rachel loved her church and her family and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Glen Tomlin; her sister, Loretta Nash; and her brother, James Nash.
She is survived by her two sons, Richard S. Tomlin and wife Terri of Picayune, MS and James Tomlin of Lynchburg; her six grandchildren, John Tomlin, Christina Dyer and husband Dustin, Courtni Anderson and husband Chris, Samantha Janowiec and husband David, Jessica Donat and husband Mike, and Heather Tomlin Wagner; her eight great grandchildren, Jordan, Madison, Avery, Cole, Jacek, Connor, Hailey, and Zane; and numerous other family members.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 7-9 pm at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 11 am at Jordan Baptist Church, 3708 Parkwood Ave, Lynchburg, VA, with the Dr. Melvin Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
