Richard Wayne Callahan

He was born in Lynchburg on November 29, 1952, son of the late Weldon Excel Callahan and the late Hilda Lipscomb Callahan.

Richard was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church and was retired from Lynchburg General Hospital. In his spare time he loved to listen to music and enjoyed cooking as well as having a great fondness for animals.

He is survived by two aunts, Charlotte Harvey and husband James and Lorretta Buraker as well as his cousin and caregiver, Carol Lindsay and numerous other cousins.

The family would like to thank all the staff of Bedford County Nursing Home for the kindness and attention that was given to Richard over the years.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 pm on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 13, 2023 at Fort Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Centra Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
