He was born in Altavista on October 5, 1941, son of the late Jack Saunders and the late Nellie Saunders.
Roy was retired from Hydrate Battery.
He was preceded in death by a son, Roy R. Saunders, Jr. and a brother Sonny Saunders.
Survivors include a daughter, Angela F. Knowles; a son, Kevin Wayne Saunders and his wife, Sarah; a sister, Delores Scruggs and her husband George; six grandchildren, Kristen Saunders, Tiffany Boydoh, Peyton Bell, Tracey Saunders, Caroline Jones and Spencer Jones. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
