Tammy Lynn Baber

She was born in Lynchburg on March 18, 1979, daughter of the late James Kent Baber and the late Vicky Kay Mathews. She was also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Liona Jean Adams and Paul Neal Adams and her paternal grandparents, Ruth Woodridge Baber and Filmer James Baber.

Tammy had a Masters degree and worked for a number of years for the Lynchburg School Nutrition Program before going to work for Lynchburg Social Services in 2015. Her career went hand in hand with her dedication to helping children in need and their families. She was the oldest of five children and the mother of three daughters of her own.

She loved fishing with her dogs and her boyfriend Shawn, making Tiktoks, and gardening. Tammy also enjoyed vacationing in the Outer Banks and Tennessee as well as any opportunity to spend time with her family. She was a caring, kind, calm, happy, hardworking and funny lady.

Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Alyssa Dawn Baber (Jon Remsen Morgan), Biore Leshay Hood and Jada Seymone Hood; four siblings, Tiffany Mathews Johnson (Sterling Lawrence), Richard L. Mathews, III, Ashley Ann Evans (Clinton James), and Amber Jean Cleveland (Zae Tyree Crew); eight nieces and nephews, Aiden Lawrence Johnson, Aniyah Simone Johnson, Kylie Makynna Johnson, Kamden Allen Mathews, Molly Breanne Fulcher, Callie Rhea Fulcher, Sadie Kay Evans, and Onyx Lee Crew; the man she loved, Shawn Michael Giles, a special friend, Kimberly Renea May as well as her pets, Bentley, Ziggy and Peanut.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 23, 2024 at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
