Born in Rockbridge Co., he is the son of Frances Broughman Chittum of Rustburg and the late Ralph Edward Chittum. In addition to his father, he was preceded n death by one son, Timothy Lee Chittum, Jr.
He was a landscaper and a member of Amazing Grace Ministries. He was a friend to all he met.
In addition to his mother and his wife, he is survived by a son, Carlton Padgett, III of Lynchburg; a daughter Jessica M. Chittum of Lynchburg; ten grandchildren, four brothers, one sister and a special friend, Doug Everett.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, July 25, 2016, at Whitten Park Ave Chapel with Pastor Bill Evans, officiating.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, July 24, 2016, at Whitten Park Ave. Chapel and at the Chittum residence and the Martin residence.
