Vincent "Radar" Wayne Mawyer

Vincent Wayne “Radar” Mawyer, 57, of Altavista, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born on April 1, 1957 in Lynchburg, he was the son of Elmo Vincent Mawyer and the late Margaret Childress Mawyer. Vincent worked for Al Hudson and Company. In his spare time he enjoyed all things outdoors, such as racing, hunting, fishing, and football. He was a Dallas Cowboy fan. In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by a brother, Darel Elmo Mawyer. In addition to his father, he is survived by his two sisters, Cathy Bernard and husband Elmer of Rustburg and Karen Wilkerson and husband Walter of Lynchburg; a son, Ty Shawn Mailk Hunt Mawyer; the mother of his son, Tammy Hunt; his step-mother, Betty Mawyer; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Jeff Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Cumbie Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 12 pm and at other times at Karen’s residence, 1324 Old Rustburg Rd, Lynchburg, VA or at Diane Tatum’s residence, 3733 Wards Rd, Altavista, VA.
