She was born on March 9, 1928 in Lynchburg, daughter of the late James and Gessie Williams.
Fay was a member of Redeeming Grace Baptist Church and her career included working for General Electric as well as Allen Telecom. In her free time she enjoyed crocheting, reading, sports, and spending time with her church family. She was a great cook who thought chocolate was a major food group.
She was the last of 6 children being preceded in death by siblings, Alfred Williams, Claris W. Roberts, Earl Williams, Audrey Bondurant, and Minerva Torrence.
Survivors include 3 children, Toni E. Fortune and wife Loretta, Richard A Fortune and wife Patty and Sharon F. Callahan and husband Jessie; 6 grandchildren, Christy McIver, Matt Fortune and wife Sarah, Greg Fortune and wife Angie, Joey Wright and wife Becca, Jessica Belcher and husband Allan and Dani Fortune; 5 great grandchildren, Abby McIver, Hailee Fortune, Sierra Cassidy, Tanner Cassidy and Jacob Belcher. She is also survived by a close friend, Mary Eubanks.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Mike O’Brien officiating. Burial will follow at Virginia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and other times at the home of Sharon Callahan.
