Virginia "June" Elliott Powell

June was born on June 6, 1929 in Lynchburg, VA, a daughter of the late Ura H. and Carl Elliott. She retired from General Electric after 24 years of service. She was a member of Fairview Christian Church.

Along with her husband Vernard, June is survived by her daughters: Sharon Powell Marilla, and her husband Sterling, Joan Powell Bateman; her sons: Dennis Elliott Powell, and Terrell Edward Powell; her sister, Ann Blanks; her six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Rev. D. Jack Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 31, 2010 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at the funeral home.
