
“Smitty”
Warren Kenneth Smith, Sr., 79, of Lynchburg, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Rebecca Lawhorne Smith.
Born May 6, 1932 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Melvin Clay and Annie Storey Smith Bailey. Mr. Smith was a retired Police Officer with the City of Lynchburg with thirty years of service and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Smith is survived by one daughter, Katrina S. McLane and husband, Steve of Lynchburg; one son, W. Kenneth “Kenney” Smith, Jr. and wife, Tina of Madison Heights and five grandchildren, Christopher S. McLane and his fiancee, Chelsea Conrad, Jeffery W. McLane and wife, Ashtan, Jessica L. Smith, Kelsie S. Smith, and Faith S. Smith.
A graveside service with military honors by American Legion Post 16 will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
