Warren was a native son of Schoharie County, New York, born August 21, 1932 in Central Bridge to the late Roy C. Tillapaugh and Gladys Tillapaugh (Hunter). He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Tillapaugh (Carlson) and his second wife, Rochelle M. Tillapaugh.
Warren loved life and was passionate about people, education, baseball, tennis, and automobiles(!). First in his family to attend and graduate from college (Union Class of 1953, Schenectady, NY), his final years were devoted to teaching third grade scholars how to read and expand their vocabularies. He created a forever endowment (merit scholarship) for his alma mater, Schoharie High School and generously contributed to Union College all his life. He was a devoted fan of the Lynchburg Hillcats and Liberty Flames baseball teams for many years. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by two children, Susan T. Ranowsky (husband Jeff) and David R. Tillapaugh (wife Cindy); four stepchildren, Kathy Hirsch (husband Larry), Victoria Sorensen (husband Peter), Gregg Blann (wife Lori), and Vance Blann; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service celebrating his life is planned on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the start of the service.
