Born on June 28, 1957 in Munich, Germany, he was the son of the late William Halliday Distelhurst and the late Martha Moertlbauer Distelhurst. William served in the United States Army and worked for Bausch Health as a Senior Maintenance Technician. Throughout his life he was a volunteer firefighter and EMT, was a general handy man, enjoyed collecting cars, was a Trump supporter, and collected model trains where he made villages with them. His collections will be donated to the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke. William worked with his wife as an Adult Foster Care Residential Service Provider, where he volunteered for and was an advocate of people with disabilities.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Helga Moertlbauer.
William is survived by his wife, Evelyn Distelhurst; son, Marcus Distelhurst; daughter, Brandi Levick and husband Stephen; step-children, Melissa Snider and Mark Snider, Jr.; two grandchildren, Shawn Levick and Aiden Levick; sister Joy Garcia and her husband Courtney Garcia; two nephews, Trey Cisco and Ryan Cisco and a niece, Heidi Moertlbauer. William is also survived by numerous friends.
There will be no formal services at this time.
