Born in Lynchburg, June 27, 1935, he was the son of the late Wesley Woodson Martin and Ruth Layne Martin. He was a retired self-employed concrete finisher. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the Moose Lodge 1727 and the American Legion Post 16.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Burks Martin; one daughter, Ronda Faye Martin; and two sisters, Blanche Duncan and Ruth Hall.
He is survived by his sister, Jean Lloyd Evans; two stepsons, Wesley Breeden and Ray Wright; two stepdaughters, Sharon Campbell and Tammy Martin; five step grandchildren; his former wife and dear friend, Joanne Martin; and a longtime, devoted friend, Mike Brooks.
A graveside service will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at Fort Hill Memorial Park with military honors by the American Legion Post 16.
