
Born on August 30, 1937 by a midwife in Middleport, while her parents, John G. and Bernadine (Young) Eibl were on their way to Albion Hospital.
Gert’s family moved to Albion from Cheektowaga and she attended Albion High School, where she left at grade 10 to help raise her siblings. On September 11, 1954, she married Frederick Goldsmith, making their home in Lyndonville. Gert worked for 37 years at Rosato’s Hotel as cook\bartender and at the Sacred Heart Club with Dee Lucas and was a member of the Lyndonville Fire Company Women’s Auxiliary. She loved to cook for her family and friends and enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens, spending time with her grandchildren, crocheting and traveling to Florida with her mother.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Frederick Goldsmith, three children, Joanne Goldsmith; Donald (Kathy) Goldsmith; Katherine (Randy Baun) Goldsmith, all of Lyndonville; ten grandchildren, Jason; Jodi; Jaime; Jackie; James; Jeremy; Joshua; Meghan; Rachelle; John and many great and great-great grandchildren; four siblings, Freda Kaiser of FL; Catherine (Paul) Jakaub of Albion; Andrew (Anna) Eibl of Albion; Carol (March) Houser of TN and many nieces and nephews, especially Anthony and Christy Eibl.
Gert is predeceased by a brother, John Eibl; a sister-in-law, Ellen Eibl; and a brother-in-law, Arthur Kaiser.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.
