Bruce was born on November 2, 1958, in Dallas, Texas to Clyde James Bird, Jr. and Doris Reeves Bird.
Bruce attended Mabank High School and Austin Deaf School. He was a member of First Assembly of God in Kemp. He did many things for work including time at Dallas Times Herald, Bird Excavation and Ditching and Yard Manager, Schaefer’s Cleaning Service, and even jobs such as delivery driver, mobile service tech greasing, fueling equipment, and driving water trucks.
Along with his wife, Bruce is survived by his children David Schaefer, Tommy Schaefer, Stacey Schaefer, Pam Schaefer, William Cullefer, Randy Sutton, Zac Crump, Lyndsey Olivarez, and Kathy Glenn; his sister Donna Bird; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Doris Bird; his brothers Larry and Gary Bird; his first wife Shirley Hunley Bird; and children Howard Schaefer and Jeannie Sutton.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Baker Cemetery in Kemp, Texas.
