Carolyn Elizabeth (Johnson) Jennings was born to parents Clemon Earl Johnson and Faye Ruth (Peeler) Johnson in Dallas, Texas on June 30, 1944. She entered into eternal rest on May 20, 2021. Shortly after graduating from Seagoville High School she married the love of her life and father of her children, David Jennings, on New Year’s Eve, 1963. That was just the beginning of building their lives and growing their family together. She was Presbyterian by faith and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Mabank since 1975. Carolyn was a devoted mother, she attended every single activity any of them were involved in. She never missed a practice, games, or any other pursuit they were a part of. She was involved in all of their school functions, clubs and many long hours spent in the stands and on the road travelling to and from their many interests. Carolyn was never a huge sports fan but she never let that stop her from supporting her family in what they love. She patiently allowed countless hours of any and all sports running non-stop on the television. When it came to football it was an absolute guarantee that no one would be missing any Texas A & M or Dallas Cowboys games.
Carolyn loved to travel, she loved going and seeing new places; as long as it was summer time or the destination had a warm climate. Her very favorite “Travel Buddy” was her sister, Amy Inez. Over the years they were able to visit many new places and make precious memories together. Carolyn loved to work in her yard, mowing, raking, tree trimming or anything else that needed to be done. When Carolyn had free time, her love of scrap booking created an enormous collection of family photo albums, where she put together the history of her family. Her favorite colors were orange and purple, although her husband chose to buy her gifts that were red, his favorite. He always loved how she looked in red. Before Carolyn became a stay at home mom she worked as a bookkeeper for Neiman Marcus and Lester Melnick. Once motherhood began, her priority became raising her children, being the warden at home gave her plenty of practice for when she took a demotion and went to work for the Texas Prison system as a prison guard for the next twenty years, retiring in 2009. She enjoyed many years of retirement and has now moved on to be reunite with her loved ones in heaven, where she will never have to watch football again.
