

She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 31 years before retirement. She then spent her next 41 years at her lake house at Cedar Creek Lake. These years were filled with many wonderful memories from time spent with her sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, neighbors, and friends all enjoying the beautiful view from her deck.
Her faith was a very important part of her life and she was a member of Payne Springs United Methodist Church for many years. She was active on church committees and a member of the church choir.
Cleta was lovingly cared for at the end of her life by her sons, Gary and Terry Mitchell, and caregiver Tammy Tubbs.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Skinner Cavender and father, Halberry Welch. Sister Loretta (Lonnie) Welch, Brothers Gerald (Gerry) Welch, Donald Bruce Welch, Lawrence Eugene Welch, Billy Ray Welch, and half-brother Roy Welch.
She is survived by her beloved sons, Gary and Terry Mitchell. Her granddaughters, Autumn and Heather Mitchell, Molly Stanley, and Makayla Mitchell and her four children, Trenton and Trinity Paslay and Tynslee and Tylee Mitchell. Her nieces, Rhonda Coote and Natalie Platt. Her nephews Jeff Coote, Matt Mitchell and Tad Welch. Her half-sisters, Betty Welch Kephart and Judy Halberry Welch Hennesey, and half-brother Dale Welch.
Her memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank, Texas.
