

Chaplain (Major) Glenn Ralph Dittmer, USAF, 75, passed away peacefully at Tyler, TX on February 25, 2022.Glenn was born on September 18, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois to his parents Philip and Esther Dittmer. Glenn was a decorated veteran who served in the Vietnam War and spent another 38 years in active duty and the reserves. Upon returning from his tour of duty, he would receive his Bachelor’s Degree in foreign languages from Southern Illinois University in 1976 and his Master Divinity Degree from Christ Seminary, St Louis in May of 1980. Glenn would faithfully serve the ministry as part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America for 40 years. He retired from the military at the age of 60 as Chaplain Major. During his time in Thailand, he met Soontorn Jindareung who he would marry in 1970. They would be lifelong partners and go on to raise five children together.
Glenn is survived by his beloved wife, Soontorn; his children Suntaree Kissire, Arlene Dittmer, James Dittmer, Peter Dittmer and Jonathon Dittmer; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marge Crowder and her husband Wayne; 1 niece and 2 nephews.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.There will be a funeral service held at 10:00am on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home, 601 State Hwy 198 at Walnut, Mabank, TX. Internment to follow at 2:15pm at Dallas Ft-Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX.
