Hubey was preceded in death by his mother, Lorine Ellen Quisenberry; his brothers, Orson Wendt and Mike Cramer; and his sister, Diane Chase.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Darlene Wendt; his daughter, Tabitha Keith; his son, Jeremy Wendt and wife Jamie; and his cherished grandchildren, Payton Wendt, Brooklyn Wendt, Addy Wendt, Zoey Wendt, and Isla Rae Keith. He is also survived by his siblings, Mary Berends, Kathy Hickman, Sandy Ford, and Chuck Wendt.
As a child, Hubey lived in California and Ohio before settling in Texas, where he spent the rest of his life. From a young age, he was driven and independent. At just 15 years old, he moved into his own apartment, found a job, and continued his education, graduating with his high school diploma in 1978.
At 18, Hubey began his career as an electrician. Through dedication and hard work, he became a master in his field and took pride in mentoring others entering the trade. He worked as an electrician until an injury in 2004 led him to step away from the profession he loved.
Never one to sit still, Hubey turned his energy toward woodworking, where his natural talent and craftsmanship shined. He had a gift for building just about anything with his hands. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, admiring classic cars, and, most of all, spending time with his family.
Hubey will be remembered for his playful sense of humor, his strong work ethic, and his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His presence brought laughter, guidance, and love to those around him, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
