

James Robert Ramsey, age 77, of Trinidad, TX entered into the arms of Jesus on November 2, 2020. He was born on January 7, 1943 in Dallas, Texas to parents Samuel George and Elta Mae (Hooten) Ramsey.
He enjoyed a long career at AT&T, followed by owning a Pawn Shop and later, a roofing company. He drove trains for children’s birthday parties earning him the nickname “Papa Choo-Choo” from his grandsons. Most recently he drove a tractor for children’s hayrides at the local pumpkin patch. James was an avid hunter and fisherman, always eager to share his processed meat with anyone in need. He also had his pilot's license and loved to fly. He was always the prankster. He loved telling funny jokes to his grandchildren. He also enjoyed doing Sudoku Puzzles, boating, racing cars and baking brownies for everyone. He will be greatly missed by his beloved Yorkie, Lilly. James gave his heart to Jesus in 1975 and served Him alongside his wife, Brenda, by teaching Children’s Church. He was in charge of craft time. His favorite craft was teaching the children to make “Fishers of Men” hooks. He also assisted Brenda in teaching children’s Sunday School classes for many years.
James is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Roy Ramsey, Joe Ramsey, Raymond Ramsey, Jack Ramsey, and sisters Sammie Ruth Dutton, Loyce Connaway, Joyce Rains and Mary Wilkins.
James is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Brenda Sue Ramsey; daughter Tiffany Evans and husband Joseph of Waco, TX; son Robert Brian Ramsey and wife Raechel of Nevada, TX; granddaughter Isabella Faith Evans of Waco, TX; grandsons Levi "Tex" James Ramsey and Weston Daniel of Nevada, TX; and a host of best friends and extended family. The family would like to give a special thank you to James' nephew and best friend, William Ramsey.
A visitation for James will be held on Sunday, November 8th, 2020 from 12:00-1:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Reception immediately following with no graveside service. Visitation and funeral to be held at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home, 601 South 3rd St., Maybank, TX 75147. The service will be live streamed at the Eubank Cedar Creek Facebook page.
