

J.M. “Buck” Wheeler was born on March 26, 1916 in Elm Grove, Texas to parents Johnathan M. Wheeler and Viola May Athey and entered into eternal rest on September 6, 2015 at the age of 99. J.M. was known as “Buck” by all who knew him. His family was most important to him. Buck enjoyed fishing, hunting and farming. He worked for VZ County and Athens Lumber Co. for over 40 years. Buck attended Eustace Assembly of God Church. He served in our military; both United States Army and Navy. Buck was involved in the WPA Program during the depression. He did everything with 100% effort. Buck was a very loving and caring man who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Buck was preceded in death by his parents, wife Genieve, stepchildren; Peter Hamilton, Billy Don Hamilton and Clara Beth Young, grandson Steven Follis, sisters; Edith Singletary, Mattie Lee Harris and brother Jonathan Ray Wheeler.
He is survived by his daughter Sue Follis and husband Tom of Hughes Springs, TX, granddaughter Lori Follis of Longview, TX, stepchildren; Dalton Hamilton of Ector, TX, Joyce Champion and husband “Champ” of Marshall, TX and Lee Hamilton and wife Barbara of Mabank, TX, numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, one great-great-step-grandchild, nieces, nephews, other loving family members and many more friends.
